Nana Plaza Bangkok (its full name is Nana Entertainment Plaza
often shortened to just NEP) is an entertainment venue, located close to the entrance of Soi 4
on Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok, Thailand. It is located around 500 metres from the nearest Skytrain
(BTS) station.
The Plaza is in the shape of a square, with a single opening on the western
side, and consists of a ground floor and two additional floors. It started out as a restaurant
area in the late 1970s. During the early 1980s the bars and gogo bars began to appear and
gradually replaced the restaurants.
Unlike Patpong, NEP is not suitable for families, the entertainment is
exclusively adult in nature. There are about 40 bars. Most are gogo style bars although there
are popular beer bars at the entrance and a few small beer bars on the ground floor of the
complex. The whole are is however geared towards the more adult entertainment ethos than its
counterpart.
Although overall less popular than Patpong,
NEP is currently the most popular of the three (farang and tourist) entertainment zones from
the bars only perspective, although as these things go in circles Soi Cowboy is catching up again. All bars (currently) close at
02.00, usually on the dot.
